The ScoopStirring Up Some Winter Fun: How To Host a Hot Cocoa Bar

As the winter chill sets in, what's better than a warm cup of cocoa? Sharing your cocoa with a gathering of friends, of course! Let’s talk about how to throw a hot cocoa party with everything that you need—including Mojo— to help spread some winter cheer.

Commence with the cocoa

The heart and soul of your hot cocoa bar is, undoubtedly, the cocoa mix. You can go the easy route with grocery store packets or craft your own secret cocoa concoction from scratch. Either way, don’t forget to include Mojo Rich Chocolate mix along with any other Mojo flavors your guests might enjoy. Provide mugs for drinking and spoons for stirring. Disposable cups are great for cleanup, but there’s nothing quite like sipping hot chocolate out of a generous mug—you can even let your guests take their cup with them as a holiday gift or party favor.

Set the stage for magic

Start with a theme in mind and gather supplies to bring your vision to life. Think along the lines of a winter fairytale, Scandinavian snowscape, or cozy log cabin. Use twinkling fairy lights, scented candles, and cozy blankets to create a scene. Add some holly, berries, pinecones, or evergreen sprigs for a touch of seasonal charm. Then set it up in a prominent yet accessible spot where everyone can join in on the fun.

Top it like it's hot

Here's where the real fun begins—the toppings! Lay out a colorful spread of options for your guests to choose from. Some of our favorites include:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Sprinkles
  • Chocolate chips for extra decadence
  • Crushed peppermint candies
  • Caramel or chocolate syrup
  • Cinnamon sticks for a spicy twist
  • Whipped cream

Display your fixings in cute bowls, jars, or even whimsical cocoa mugs. Label all the choices clearly so everyone can find their faves. Encourage your cocoa creators to mix and match their toppings to design their own cocoa masterpiece.

Other sweets and dipping treats

You’ll need some snacks with your cocoa, so add some yummy and festive munchies to your display. We love things like:

  • Rolled wafer cookies
  • Gingerbread
  • Candy canes
  • Peppermint bark
  • Chocolate truffles
  • Salted caramels

Set the stage for cocoa creativity

Provide some simple ideas on how to craft the perfect cup. If you were lucky enough to snag our limited-time holiday flavors, Toasted White Chocolate and Raspberry Ripple, you’re in for a treat! But, don’t worry—these same ideas work perfectly with Mojo Rich Chocolate, too.

  • White chocolate peppermint cocoa
  • Top Mojo White Chocolate with whipped cream & peppermint sprinkles, then stir with a candy cane
  • Dark chocolate raspberry cocoa
  • Top Mojo Chocolate Raspberry Ripple with dark chocolate chips, whipped cream, and fresh or freeze-dried raspberries
  • Mexican hot chocolate
  • Sprinkle Mojo Rich Chocolate with cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Top with marshmallows, and stir with a cinnamon stick
  • Spiced white hot chocolate
  • Pour a dash of vanilla into Mojo White Chocolate, then sprinkle with pumpkin pie spice. Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup

Now you’re ready to get the party started! Gather your cocoa supplies and let the creativity flow. Cheers to a winter filled with cocoa magic and unforgettable moments!
